  • Athena and Owl, Goddess of Wisdom, Mark of Athena, Greek Coins, Greek Mythology (12-S)

The Crescent moon represents the night and the owl's wisdom to see in the dark. The Olive Branch, which was a common theme in Athenian currency, symbolizes Athena's peaceful victory over Poseidon. The letters AOE is an abbreviation for "of Athenians" HISTORY The Mark of Athena was a coin that the goddess Athena gave to a select few of her demigod offspring to avenge her against the Romans for stealing her sacred statue. The coin leads its possessor to the Athena Parthenos in Rome, where Athena's rival, Arachne, was guarding the statue in a chamber. Every few generations, if Athena considers one of her children worthy, she gives them a silver drachma. The image of Athena's sacred animal, an owl, appears and "guides" the possessor to the statue. In Percy Jackson Book "The Heroes of Olympus" THE MARK OF ATHENA It is shown that Athena had given Annabeth Chase the coin prior to the events of the book. She had told Annabeth to follow it and "avenge her," or else she was no child of hers. The coin ultimately leads Annabeth to the Athena Parthenos, where she faces Arachne, the greatest fear of the children of Athena.

  • 1973 Greece 1 Drachma Athena's Owl & Phoenix Gem BU Uncirculated Coin Sterling Silver Necklace

You are looking at a gorgeous SOLID 925 sterling silver coin necklace with an authentic 1973 Greece 1 Drachma Athena's Owl & Phoenix coin. The coin is in brilliant gem BU uncirculated condition, about the size of US Nickels, backside 4-prong set, and you can see both sides of the coin. The pendant is well designed with Western scrolls, about 1.5"(38mm) x 1.25"(32mm), and made of solid 925 sterling silver. I designed and made this pendant myself, which is a brand new one and has never been worn or used before. The whole piece has a nice color contrast with silver coin bezel and gold coin. It comes with a 18" solid 925 sterling silver fine chain, and also a gift box. I only use these coins with readable dates to customize my coin jewelry, never try to clean them, and always keep their collectible and numismatic values. Let me know if you prefer Phoenix showing in front. This necklace will be great for gift, investment purpose or just adding to your coin/jewelry collection. I will be happy to combine shipping for multiple items. Both chain and pendant are marked 925 sterling silver. Thanks!
